Bio
Musical Polyglot and One Man Nyckelharpa Ambassador at Large
I am a multi-instrumentalist with musical roots in Scandinavian folk, traditional Irish, and classical music, but with a wide-ranging love for global folk traditions.
You can find me playing at renaissance faires all across the country, at music festivals, or busking in your local park.
In 2019 I discovered the nyckelharpa, thanks to falling down a Scandinavian folk metal musical rabbit hole. With a freshly crafted Olle Plahn nyckelharpa delivered to my tiny Brooklyn apartment, my musical journey was accelerated by the pandemic putting work in the hospitality industry on ice, thus giving me a lot of time on my hands to practice. In 2022, after my first performances at the Old Lyme, Connecticut Make Music Day festival and the Connecticut Renaissance Festival, I decided to make music the primary focus of my life. Few things in my life have provided me with more meaning and joy than dedicating myself to creating and sharing my music.
My primary instruments are the nyckelharpa and the oktavharpa (the bass version of the nyckelharpa), as well as the talharpa (viking era horse hair lyre) and Greek tsouras.
My bands are medieval and renaissance world folk rock trio Lämning (lamning.com) and Irish traditional and all around good times ensemble The Rowdy Bardlings (therowdybardlings.bandcamp.com). Click here more about my bands!
